About Tami Williamson

Tami Williamson Tamson is my professional name, an acronym of my full name Tami Williamson. I'm a long time graphic designer and though I still take great pleasure in transforming a clients scribbles and vague ideas into a logo the near instant gratification I get from photography has overshadowed the deadline driven and demanding world of graphic design. Of course the choice of being inside designing logos or outside photographing the beauty of the great outdoors? For me at least, a no brainer, photography wins.

I'm often asked what type of photography I do, I used to say landscape but now I refer to my work as Fine Art Photography. Why? Because getting a technically spot on shot is only my first step in creating what you see on these pages. My camera is a tool, a machine lacking human emotion, even with the very best equipment it's still only a machine. I use the power of post-processing to create an image as I saw it without changing the core integrity of the photo, it's where I get to express my vision using my traditional fine art and graphic design skills. To me it's no different than "old school" negative development, the computer is my darkroom without the toxic chemicals. Even the great photographs of Ansel Adams did not just come out of his camera that way, he massaged his negatives, burning and dodging until he created the image as he saw it and wanted the viewer to "feel" it. That's what I strive for, I want a person viewing one of my photographs to feel it, be there, whether it's a crazy storm in the Grand Canyon or meeting some happy cows on a road trip in France!

Thank you for visiting, Tami
