Description
Gold Beach, Oregon, USA
The Mary D. Hume was built in 1881 by R.D. Hume and named after his wife. After the longest active sea service of any commercial vessel on the Pacific Coast the Mary D. was retired in 1978. Effort was made to turn her into a museum but for various reasons it didn't happen. Now though the steamer is on the National Register of Historical places she is slowly breaking apart and sliding into the waters of Gold Beach.
